  • Sorry Jesus, that sucks.  I don’t believe in God… but you, Jesus, certainly exsisted and I believe you were an extraordinary man… they wrote one hell of a story about you, after all.  All that being said, I enjoy the spirit of Christmas, which honestly doesn’t have much to do with you specifically, but more about the things you stood for… love and compassion for my fellow man.  To me, that’s more important than whether or not I believe in God or what God I happen to believe in, as the case may be.

Oh… and Jesus?  Lighten up on Santa.  He’s a good guy with great compassion, too.   :)

  • Do you mind if I copy this and hand it out to my religion class this week? I think it is wonderful!

  • Well said!  We make a cake, actually, and sing Happy Birthday to Him.  But that’s just us ………

  • I think we all know that Christmas is the birthday of Jesus.  Jesus was love, compassion and forgiveness.  Jesus gave and gave and never stopped He continues to give every day.  I think the gifts we give at Christmas honor Jesus because there given with love it’s a time of year hearts open when so many are closed and that is a great gift to honor Jesus.  The bright lights of many colors remind me of the rainbow and God’s promise they also remind me that Jesus is the light.  The pretty wrapped gift remind me of how good it feels to share with others and to give even if it’s homemade gifts or just a card.  The tree reminds me how much I need to stay close to nature and all God created.  It also reminds me of how much Jesus suffered and the price He paid for our sins.  Santa reminds me to never stop hoping to always have faith and to dream because dreams are a vision to climb those mountains and move those mountains to never give up.  I don’t think Jesus can ever be removed from Christmas he is the reason we celebrate on this one day the world stands still to honor Him with love, giving of our hearts and laughter that fills the soul.  Yes many get caught up in material items, spending having parties but they do that on many other days as well.  I love Christmas and the joy and love that always fills the air.  It’s also a time when we notice more pain and suffering which is always there year round we just notice it more at Christmas.  I like Santa because he brings laughter and smiles and does no harm I can think of many other things that do much harm.  So I will continue to place a Santa at the door and Jesus at the front of Christmas that is why Christ is first in Christmas.  from us in Virginia

  • That surprised me till i got to the end, i think many people forget what Xmas is all about i wasn’t brought up with religion ,so never understood until later why we had presents and trees and things because we never went to church ,except for births, marriages and deaths that seems queer to me, especially as I was sent to a Chuch of England school for girls ,and was regularly marched off to church on high days and holidays . I was made to gp to sunday school ocasionally but the kids all said  our parents only send us to get some peace, and for the working class of that time. I can well believe it ,only time they had the house to themselves.. Not that that applied to me but I went because my friends did, but I wasn’t forced to go.. Glad the little gift arrived safely, just to let you know I haven’t forgotten you Love Marj

  • Jesus Christ is the center of my life and I celebrate His birth and more importantly, His resurrection!  He was more than just a “good” man.  He claimed to be God’s Son.  He had victory over death.  If someone states that He is just a “good” man than He must be a liar and not a good man since He did claim to be God’s Son.  He alone can change the heart of a man from the inside.
